Booth #S03 For Art Basel Miami’s Survey Sector, Anat Ebgi presents artist Faith Wilding, focusing on specific works from 1969-1979. The 1970s marked an explosion of work and research of a purely feminine nature which sought to move beyond male-centric painting and art history. As an early radical feminist, Wilding was a co-initiator of the Feminist Art Programs at Fresno State and California Institute of the Arts (CalArts), a founder of the Woman’s Building, a participant of the seminal “Womanhouse” exhibition, significantly contributing to the discourse of feminist art, especially in relation to Los Angeles. For EXPO Chicago, Anat Ebgi presents new lightbox works from Jibade-Khalil Huffman and sculptures of Jason Bailer Losh. Jibade-Khalil Huffman’s (b. 1981, Detroit) photo-based and moving-image works are experiments relating archives and collage to memory and language, particular to race and semiotics. The lightbox works for EXPO Chicago are assembled from layering scanned fragments of original photographs, and found sources, heavily manipulated with graphic and figurative overlays. In his subtle installation of one still and one moving-image pieces, movement and narrative are suggested through illumination. Jordan Nassar Booth #FR18 Anat Ebgi is pleased to announce a solo presentation with Jordan Nassar at Frieze New York in the Frame section from May 2 – 6. Drawing from his Palestinian-American background, Nassar’s hand embroidered textile pieces address the ideas of cultural heritage, authenticity, nationality, and perception. Adapting traditional Palestinian patterns and symbols, Nassar merges the geographical and the decorative, creating intricate, abstract cartographies imbued with traditional iconography. A suite of landscapes, with patterns culled from embroidered pillows he purchased from Palestinian women in the West Bank, is accompanied by works made in collaboration with the same women….

An Te Liu and Neil Raitt Booth #P16 Anat Ebgi is pleased to announce a two-person presentation with An Te Liu and Neil Raitt at The Armory Show from March 8 – 11, 2018 in New York City. The sculptures of An Te Liu are at once sensual and amorphous, Modernist designs conjuring both the historical and futuristic relic. An ongoing investigation into material and form, Liu’s sculptures are transmuted, contemporary totems on concrete pedestals, beginning as industrial packaging detritus and metamorphosing into illusory, patinated casts.
