Born in 1968. Lives and works in Los Angeles.
With a focus on painting and collage, Stuckey creates images of representation and abstract elements. Familiar images are re-contextualized to ask questions of the viewer, not to provide an answer. Cartoon-like figures of harsh, angular lines create a humorous, thought-provoking narrative. Although Stuckey’s work resides in a dream world, it is littered with remnants of his real-life such as receipts, lists, and handwritten notes. Ultimately, Stuckey’s works questions the distinction between the two mental states, and points out the fleeting quality that both dreams and daily life share.
